Our Take

RIMBA is the family entry point into the extraordinary AYANA Estate in Jimbaran — 90 hectares of clifftop land above Jimbaran Bay, shared between four hotels with 14 pools, a private beach and more than 19 dining venues. The estate is genuinely enormous, and the free resort tram is how you get around it. That’s worth understanding before you book: RIMBA itself sits on the clifftop and the private Kubu Beach is a tram ride away — a few minutes, runs every 10 minutes, but it’s not a walk-out-your-door beach situation. Families who want to step straight from their room onto the sand should look at the InterContinental instead. Families who are excited by the idea of 14 pools, a brand-new jungle kids club, and Rock Bar sunsets as part of their daily rhythm will absolutely love it here. RIMBA itself is designed specifically for families: 403 rooms with connecting options throughout, and the RIMBA Jungle Adventure kids club — a 17,000-square-foot nature-themed playground with ziplines, climbing structures, and sensory play areas for toddlers. It’s free and exclusive to in-house guests. Five pools at RIMBA plus access to nine more across the estate. The Wana Forest Pool — surrounded by greenery, quieter than the main pool — is a favorite with families who want a calmer swim. Evening kids club sessions run on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, giving parents a few genuine nights off.

Private Kubu Beach — tram required

Kubu Beach is the AYANA Estate's private white-sand beach — sheltered, beautiful and exclusive to in-house guests. It's a short tram ride from RIMBA, not walking distance. Tram runs every 10 minutes. Worth planning your beach days around rather than treating it as a spontaneous wander.

Vast estate — the tram is your friend

The AYANA Estate is genuinely enormous and RIMBA sits at one end of it. Everything is accessible by the free tram but first-time guests are sometimes surprised by the scale. Build the tram into your daily rhythm from day one and it becomes a non-issue — most families love the estate-hopping aspect by day two.

Beyond the Gates

Beyond the Gates

Jimbaran and beyond

Jimbaran's famous seafood strip is a short drive for sunset dinner on the sand. Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park 15 min. Uluwatu Temple and Kecak fire dance about 30 min. Most families barely leave the estate. 20–25 min to airport.

About Jimbaran

Seafood on the beach, sheltered beach and some of Bali’s finest resorts. Bali made simple.

Jimbaran is the kind of place that sneaks up on you. It’s not purpose-built like Nusa Dua andit’s not buzzing like Canggu — it’s something in between that’s genuinely hard to find in Bali. The bay is sheltered and still, the sunsets are ridiculous, and the famous seafood warungs on the beach at dusk are one of those Bali experiences every family should do at least once.

The family resort strip in Jimbaran is home to some of the island’s most prestigious properties — Four Seasons, Ayana, InterContinental — all sitting on or above the bay with views that do the talking. It’s a genuinely luxurious corner of Bali without the energy of the more built-up areas further north.

The beach is swimmable, and the pace is unhurried, and the whole area has a settled, confident feel to it. Not much happens in Jimbaran beyond the hotels and the seafood strip— and for many families, that’s exactly the point.

It sits close enough to the airport to make arrival easy, and close enough to Uluwatu to make a sunset at the Temple or a surf at Bingin feel like a very achievable day trip. For families looking for luxury hotels in Bali without the fuss, Jimbaran delivers every time.
