The Apurva Kempinski is Nusa Dua’s most visually dramatic resort. The open-air lobby is designed as an ‘open-air theatre’ on a scale that genuinely stops you in your tracks. 465 rooms set across terraced cliffs, a 60-meter pool, the Jalak Family Club with its Montessori-inspired approach, and Koral — Bali’s first and only aquarium restaurant, open to the public, dining surrounded by rays and sharks. It features a gorgeous treehouse-concept indoor playground, a dedicated games room (equipped with a PlayStation, foosball, and air hockey), a massive spider cushion pillow, and an interactive outdoor playground complete with artificial turf and climbing structures. Huge plus for kids are the waterslides.
The resort is vast, and the walk from some room categories to the beach and pool can be significant — golf cart buggies are available. Once you have your bearings, it’s extraordinary. One thing worth knowing: children 12 and above are charged as adults here, and connecting rooms are available but cannot be guaranteed.
