Andaz Bali

Premium $$$$

Our Take

Andaz Bali is the best family resort in Sanur at the premium tier — and it’s not particularly close. The property spans nearly six hectares, and roughly half of that is botanical garden — the kind of lush, maintained grounds you’d expect in a city park, not a hotel. Three pools, including a lagoon pool, a quiet adults pool, and a kids pool. The kids club, Kemu Mai, has an outdoor playground, art room, nap room, and daily activities — open 9am to 6 pm for ages 4 to 12, with 2 hours of complimentary access per child per day. And Andaz guests can walk through the connecting side entrance to Camp Hyatt at the Hyatt Regency next door — effectively two kids’ clubs available to one family. The turtle conservation hatchery sits between Andaz and the Hyatt on the beach path — baby turtle releases happen regularly, and the front desk can tell you the timing. It’s the kind of moment that makes kids talk about a holiday long after they’ve come home. Pools do get busy during Australian and European school holidays — worth knowing if you’re peak-season travelers. The two-bedroom beach villa is the definitive Andaz family configuration if budget allows.

About Sanur

Bali’s quiet achiever. Easy, unhurried and a great mix of resort and Real Bali vibes for families.

Sanur is the Bali that many visitors discover on their second or third trip — and immediately wish they’d found sooner. It sits on the protected east coast, which means the water is calm, the beach is long and flat, and the whole place moves at a pace that feels genuinely relaxed rather than just marketed that way.

It’s a real neighbourhood as much as a resort strip. The main beach path is lined with cafes, local warungs, and beach clubs that feel lived-in rather than staged. Kids can roam, parents can breathe, and nobody is trying too hard.

One of Sanur’s best-kept secrets is the beachside cycling and walking path that runs the length of the strip — completely traffic-free. It’s the kind of detail that matters enormously when you’re travelling with kids of any age. You can push a pram and get out and about beyond the hotel grounds, tweens can hire a bike and roam independently, and teens can actually feel like they have some freedom — without anyone having to worry.

The family hotels and resorts in Sanur sit at the more understated end of the luxury scale —elegant without being ostentatious. Less about the wow factor on arrival, more about how good you feel by day three when you’ve found your rhythm. If you want the full Bali resort experience with a little more soul and a lot less of a scene — Sanur is the answer.
