Maya Sanur is the most design-conscious resort in its price bracket — a boutique property with four pools, a beachfront Tree Bar and a kids club, all wrapped in a contemporary Balinese aesthetic that sits a notch above the average mid-range. The lagoon pool is the centrepiece: 158 metres long, lined with daybeds, with lagoon-accessrooms opening directly onto it. The family and kids’ pools sit at the far end — separated enough that the main lagoon doesn’t feel overrun, close enough to walk between in a couple of minutes.
The grass-covered rooftop with panoramic Sanur views is a genuine drawcard — the kind of detail that makes this resort stick in the memory long after you’ve gone home. Worth knowing: the family and kids’ pools are smaller than the main lagoon and can feel busier in peak season. The beach strip here is narrower than elsewhere in Sanur — the pool experience is really where Maya delivers. Pool seating at the main lagoon is limited; use the poolside service button rather than trying to flag someone down.
