The Meru Sanur is one of the newest hotels in Sanur and immediately became the most visually striking new hotel in Sanur. All-suite, built from wood and stone, with two very large pools, a beachfront position at the northern end of the strip, and strong early ratings that reflect a genuinely well-run new property. It’s primarily pitched as a wellness and design resort — and delivers at that end without question. But the family question is worth asking, and the answer is more encouraging than the wellness branding might suggest. Kids club on site, generous suite configurations that give families real space, and pools large enough that children don’t run out of room. The Meru isn’t a resort that leads with family energy — wellness, design and calm are the focus, and the kids’ club is there but not the centerpiece. Families who want the resort to fill every waking hour with structured activity should look at Andaz instead. Families who want a genuinely beautiful all-suite base and are happy to mix in beach time, the promenade, and day trips will find The Meru exceptional. Being so close to Sanur Harbor for Nusa Penida or Lembongan boats is a real practical bonus. Walk to Icon Mall in 20 minutes and visit Bali Safari Marine Park for some animal encounters and the splash park.

Kids club + two large pools
Kids club on site with structured activities. Two large pools give children plenty of space. Beach promenade for bikes and exploring. Not a resort built around kids programming — but it's genuinely family-capable.

The Main Event
Architecture and pools
The most architecturally striking new hotel in Sanur. Wood and stone, beachfront, two pools at a scale that makes most Bali hotels look modest. The arrival experience consistently gets called out by guests.

Feed the Crew
Arunika and Roso Restaurants
Arunika serves international cuisine with a well-reviewed breakfast. Roso praised for dinner. Both getting positive early reviews. Sanur's promenade restaurants a short walk for variety.

Toes in the Sand
Northern Sanur beachfront
At the northern end of Sanur's beach — minutes from Sanur Harbour. The sunrise from the beach here is the natural morning ritual. Calm, sheltered swimming. Perfect recipe for families.

Beyond the Gates
Sanur Harbour next door
Nusa Lembongan fast boats from Sanur Harbour are a few minutes away — one of the easiest day trip logistics of any hotel in Sanur. 5km promenade for cycling. Clip n Climb and AeroXSpace a short drive for active kids. 45 mins to airport.

Good to Know
Beautiful base, not a kids resort
The Meru is a wellness-led design hotel that has great family facilities. For families wanting a stunning base who plan to fill days with promenade, beach and excursions — it delivers. For those who need constant resort programming, Andaz is the better fit.

About Sanur
Bali’s quiet achiever. Easy, unhurried and a great mix of resort and Real Bali vibes for families.
Sanur is the Bali that many visitors discover on their second or third trip — and immediately wish they’d found sooner. It sits on the protected east coast, which means the water is calm, the beach is long and flat, and the whole place moves at a pace that feels genuinely relaxed rather than just marketed that way.
It’s a real neighbourhood as much as a resort strip. The main beach path is lined with cafes, local warungs, and beach clubs that feel lived-in rather than staged. Kids can roam, parents can breathe, and nobody is trying too hard.
One of Sanur’s best-kept secrets is the beachside cycling and walking path that runs the length of the strip — completely traffic-free. It’s the kind of detail that matters enormously when you’re travelling with kids of any age. You can push a pram and get out and about beyond the hotel grounds, tweens can hire a bike and roam independently, and teens can actually feel like they have some freedom — without anyone having to worry.
The family hotels and resorts in Sanur sit at the more understated end of the luxury scale —elegant without being ostentatious. Less about the wow factor on arrival, more about how good you feel by day three when you’ve found your rhythm. If you want the full Bali resort experience with a little more soul and a lot less of a scene — Sanur is the answer.
