Padma Resort Ubud

Mid Range $$$$

Our Take

Padma Resort Ubud is the benchmark family resort in the Ubud region at the mid-range tier. Twelve hectares of forested hillside, an 89-meter heated infinity pool overlooking rice terraces and jungle, Wolly Kids Club for ages 4–12, free archery, an animal nursery with bunnies and guinea pigs, vegetable planting in the agroforestry garden, and a Kids Garden Club outdoors. The family room configurations are thoughtfully designed, not an afterthought. The setting is the thing. Padma Ubud sits high in the hills about 40 minutes from Ubud town, with rice terrace and forest views in every direction. The sense of remoteness is genuine — you’re deep in Bali’s interior, with monkeys in the trees and morning mist over the valley. It doesn’t have the market access of Maya Ubud, but the resort grounds are large enough that families rarely feel they need to leave. The free shuttle to Ubud town means the option is there when you want it. Worth being honest about: Padma Ubud is a quieter, more refined property than Padma Legian. It suits families who want genuine jungle immersion and are happy spending most of their time in the resort. Families who want to be constantly in the middle of Ubud’s action are better served elsewhere.

About Ubud

Culture, jungle and a spiritual hum. A completely different side of Bali worth every winding road.

Ubud is unlike anywhere else in Bali — or anywhere else in the world, for that matter. Inland, elevated and surrounded by jungle and rice terraces, it operates at a completely different frequency to the beach resorts on the coast. If Seminyak is the glamour and Nusa Dua is the resort, Ubud is the soul.

The hotels here are some of the most extraordinary on the island — perched above river gorges, hidden in jungle, designed to make you feel like you’ve genuinely escaped. FourSeasons Sayan, Capella Ubud, COMO Uma Ubud — these are bucket list properties that justify the extra distance from the airport without question.

What Ubud offers is culture, wellness, creativity, and a connection to the real Bali that’s increasingly hard to find elsewhere on the island. The temples, the rice terraces, thetraditional dance performances, the morning mist over the jungle — it gets under your skin ina way that a beach holiday simply doesn’t.

For families it works best as part of a split stay — a few nights in Ubud to balance out the beach resort experience. Kids who have done Ubud tend to talk about it long after the waterslide has been forgotten.
