The Westin Resort & Spa

Mid Range $$$$

Our Take

The Westin Ubud positions itself around wellness — sleep, eat, move, feel, work, play well — and that philosophy runs through every part of the property. The infinity pool overlooking the Wos River gorge is genuinely extraordinary, one of the most impressive pool settings in Ubud. The Westin Family Kids Club for ages 4–12 sits adjacent to a dedicated children’s pool with a miniature waterfall. Free babysitting is included for all guests. Free cribs. And the resort has run promotional family deals including kids under 12 staying and dining free — confirm current offers directly with the hotel when booking. The jungle-and-rice-paddy setting is immersive — the resort rises from the landscape rather than sitting on top of it. Three deck levels capture views of Ubud Forest and the river. The spa has five treatment rooms plus four outdoor pavilions overlooking the natural scenery. Morning yoga at a riverside wellness pavilion. A wellness program that actually extends to children and teens, not just adults. Worth knowing: the Westin Ubud sits in Singakerta, around 5–6 km from Ubud town — about 15–20 minutes by car. It’s further out than COMO Uma Ubud and Maya Ubud, and unlike those properties, it does not offer a complimentary shuttle to town. You’ll need to arrange transport in and out. Airport transfer is approximately 65 minutes.

About Ubud

Culture, jungle and a spiritual hum. A completely different side of Bali worth every winding road.

Ubud is unlike anywhere else in Bali — or anywhere else in the world, for that matter. Inland, elevated and surrounded by jungle and rice terraces, it operates at a completely different frequency to the beach resorts on the coast. If Seminyak is the glamour and Nusa Dua is the resort, Ubud is the soul.

The hotels here are some of the most extraordinary on the island — perched above river gorges, hidden in jungle, designed to make you feel like you’ve genuinely escaped. FourSeasons Sayan, Capella Ubud, COMO Uma Ubud — these are bucket list properties that justify the extra distance from the airport without question.

What Ubud offers is culture, wellness, creativity, and a connection to the real Bali that’s increasingly hard to find elsewhere on the island. The temples, the rice terraces, thetraditional dance performances, the morning mist over the jungle — it gets under your skin ina way that a beach holiday simply doesn’t.

For families it works best as part of a split stay — a few nights in Ubud to balance out the beach resort experience. Kids who have done Ubud tend to talk about it long after the waterslide has been forgotten.
